Figuring out what you actually need

Most people are sold far more computer than they need, or the wrong kind entirely. We start with plain questions: do you mainly email, browse, and video call with grandchildren, or do you edit photos, run a small business, or use a specific program for work? The answer decides everything else.

We also ask about the things that actually affect daily comfort, like whether you need a bigger screen, a lighter laptop you can carry to another room, or a keyboard that is easier on your hands, and we factor those in alongside the technical specs.

  • What you use a computer for most, in your own words
  • Whether a laptop or desktop actually fits how you live and work
  • A realistic budget range, with no pressure to spend more
  • Any programs or accounts, like Quicken or a work portal, that must work on it

What we recommend and why

We give you specific, honest recommendations: a make and model or two that fit your needs, an explanation of what matters in plain terms like storage space and battery life, and what does not matter for you, like a graphics card built for gaming you will never do.

We have no arrangement with any store or manufacturer and do not sell hardware ourselves, so the advice is about what fits your life, not what earns anyone a commission.

  • One or two specific models that fit your actual needs and budget
  • A plain explanation of what the specs mean for you, no jargon
  • A heads-up on any accessories worth buying at the same time
  • Honest advice on where to buy it, without us taking a cut

After you buy it

Once your new computer arrives, we come set it up: moving your files and photos over, signing in your accounts, installing the programs you use, and removing the trial software it came loaded with. We also make sure your old computer's data is backed up first, so nothing is at risk during the move.

How a visit works

The advice conversation can happen by phone or in your home, whichever you prefer, and setup happens once the new computer is in hand. Call (615) 852-5565 Monday to Saturday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM to get started.
