What tends to go wrong on each brand
Dell laptops in the Inspiron and Latitude lines often slow down as the hard drive ages, and the charging port can work loose after years of use. HP laptops commonly show battery swelling and hinge wear, since the hinge carries a lot of the daily strain. Lenovo ThinkPads and IdeaPads tend to hold up well mechanically, but their keyboards and trackpads are the parts that wear out first.
None of this means one brand is bad and another is good. It just means we know where to look first, so the visit does not turn into guesswork.
- Dell: slow storage, worn charging ports, fan noise on older Inspirons
- HP: battery swelling, loose hinges, keyboard backlight failures
- Lenovo: worn keys and trackpad buttons, occasional Wi-Fi card issues
A tune-up first, before anything gets replaced
A laptop that feels slow is not always a laptop that needs new parts. Most of the time, a cleanup of startup programs, a check of the storage drive, and clearing out years of clutter brings it back to a usable speed. We do that work first and only talk about hardware once we know the slowness is not something a tune-up can fix.
- Check how full the hard drive or SSD is and clean up what is safe to remove
- Trim the programs that launch automatically at startup
- Test the battery health and charging behavior
- Confirm Windows updates are current and not the cause of the slowdown
When we send you to the manufacturer instead
Some repairs genuinely belong with Dell, HP, or Lenovo directly, usually because the laptop is still under its original warranty, or because the part needed is a proprietary motherboard component that only the manufacturer stocks. When that is the case, we say so plainly instead of taking on a job we cannot do well, and we will tell you what to say when you call them so the process goes faster.
For everything else, storage upgrades, keyboard and screen swaps, battery replacements, cleaning out overheating fans, we handle it in your home in one visit in most cases.
How to book a visit
Call (615) 852-5565 Monday to Saturday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM and tell us the brand and model if you know it, along with what the laptop is doing. We will let you know what to expect before the technician ever knocks on your door.
