The usual reasons a printer stops printing entirely

When a printer will not print at all, rather than just printing badly, the cause is almost always one of a short list of things: the printer shows as offline even though it is on, a print job is stuck in the queue and blocking everything behind it, the driver on your computer needs updating, the Wi-Fi connection dropped, or the ink or toner ran out without a clear warning.

The tricky part is that the printer often gives no useful explanation, just a spinning icon or a vague error, so guessing which of these it is can burn an entire afternoon before we even arrive.

  • Printer shows "offline" even though it is powered on and connected
  • A stuck print job that blocks every job sent after it
  • An outdated or corrupted driver on the computer
  • A dropped Wi-Fi or USB connection between the printer and computer
  • Low or empty ink and toner, sometimes without a clear on-screen warning

What we check on site, in order

We start with the printer itself, ink or toner levels, paper jams, and any error light, then check the connection between the printer and your computer, whether that is Wi-Fi, USB, or a network cable. From there we clear anything stuck in the print queue and confirm the driver on your computer matches what the printer actually needs, since a mismatched driver can silently block every print job.

  • Ink, toner, and paper checked first, the simplest causes ruled out early
  • Connection between printer and computer confirmed working
  • Print queue cleared of anything stuck or backed up
  • Driver checked and updated if it is outdated or mismatched

Getting it printing reliably, not just once

Our goal is not just to force one page through before we leave. We test a real print job from the computer and phone you actually use, and if the printer is shared across multiple devices in the house, we confirm each one can print to it before calling the visit finished. That way it stays working after we walk out the door, instead of failing again next week.

How to book
