Starting where you are, not where a manual assumes

Every lesson starts with what you actually want to do, whether that is calling your grandchildren on video, sending a photo without accidentally sending twenty, or just figuring out why your phone keeps interrupting you with notifications. We do not run through a fixed course; we answer your questions and build from there.

These are ongoing sessions, so nothing has to be learned in one sitting. If we cover video calls today and you want to revisit it next month with new questions, that is exactly what these lessons are for.

The everyday basics, explained plainly

We cover calls and texts, including group messages and how to send a photo without sending your whole camera roll by mistake. We go over the camera and photo app so you can find pictures again after you take them, and we set up whatever apps matter to you, whether that is a weather app, a news app, or a game a grandchild recommended.

  • Making calls and video calls, and knowing who is calling and why
  • Texting and sending photos without confusion or accidental sends
  • Finding, organizing, and sharing pictures you have already taken
  • Installing and using the apps you actually want, nothing extra

Staying safe on the phone

A phone is also where a lot of scams arrive these days, through texts, calls, and fake app alerts. Part of every lesson is learning to recognize the common tricks, like a text claiming to be from your bank or a call saying your phone has a virus, so you can pause and check before you tap anything.

  • Telling a real text from your bank or doctor apart from a fake one
  • What to do when an unknown number calls or texts
  • Recognizing a fake "your phone has a virus" warning
  • Who to call, and what to check, before entering any personal information

Setting up lessons

Lessons happen at your home, on your own phone, and typically run about an hour. Many people book a series of visits spaced out over a few weeks so things have time to sink in. Call (615) 852-5565 Monday to Saturday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM to set up your first session.
