Stop when pressure starts

Scammers create urgency so you act before checking. Hang up or close the browser. Do not call a number inside a popup.

  • Unexpected contact claiming to be Microsoft, Apple, a bank, or the government
  • A demand for gift cards, cryptocurrency, wire transfer, or cash
  • A request to install remote-control software
  • Threats that your account, computer, or benefits will be closed today

Check through a trusted route

Use the phone number on your card, statement, or the company website you type yourself. Ask a family member or Deskside before granting access.

  • Disconnect from the internet if someone is controlling the screen
  • Call your bank if payment or account details were shared
  • Change important passwords from a different trusted device
  • Write down the caller number, time, and what happened
